GINERVA molly WEASLEY
** 23 -- CHASER: HOLLYHEAD HARPIES -- BRITISH -- SINGLE **
"I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me"
Ginerva Molly Weasley, the first Weasley girl born in generations. Not to mention the baby of the family. Her first few years of life were little dresses and way to much pink, because her mother had wanted a little girl and everything that came with that. She was just a bit too coddled for her tastes, so she resorted to going to her brothers - and the twins were more than willing to allow her to wreak havoc on their behalf, more so since their mother was inclined to not buy little Ginny's participation in their schemes. She eventually cottoned on, sure, but it took a while.
As Ginny grew older her special brand of havoc spread, somewhat. She got tired of being told she could ride a broom when she saw her brothers zooming across the ground so little six year old Ginny had taken what she had learned from Fred and George and took to picking the lock and going on midnight broom rides. Of long nights lying in bed awake and waiting until everyone was asleep before she could sneak downstairs and out the door. Of nights of missed flying when her mom caught her on her way through the kitchen and she had to back pedal. Of nights spent hiding under the windows because one of her brothers had gotten up for a midnight snack (usually Ron) and she couldn't let them see her. Sleeping in the dirt under the window just proved her dedication to sticking it to them. Not that they could appreciate the sentiment.
Her brothers head off to school and graduate and the house slowly drains of people, Bill and Charlie and Percy. It's lonely but the twins are there and they help to keep her entertained, pranking Ron (or being drawn into chess games with him). But then it's the twins going off to Hogwarts and soon enough it will be Ron and then it will just be her and mum. Don't get her wrong, Ginny adores her mum but she doesn't want all of that focus on her. Not when there's so much more fun stuff for her to do. Not when mum's going to know that the creaking stairs are her and not just Ron sneaking down the stairs for a midnight snack.
But Ron leaves for Hogwarts and he meets Harry Potter, Harry Potter the savior of the Wizarding World. With his fluffy back hair and his magnificent scar. She spends way too much of her time, once Ron is gone, stuck up in her bedroom daydreaming about being Mrs. Ginerva Potter - and potentially planning her wedding. She hadn't even met the boy yet, but it kept her out from under her mother's feet. At least until she went down to join her parents, and was regaled with her father's tales from work. All the muggle trinkets that he'd found and his rubber duck collection, whatever that was.
It was also the year that she first actually noticed something ... different. How her mom fretted over buying all of the school books for them, pinched pennies because she'd have to buy Ginny her own wand alongside all of the new books for her brothers. Ginny didn't understand what she was meant to do so she did what little she could. She pretended that her dresses were perfectly fine and after a few pin pricks figured out how to sew up all the little holes in her pants. If they looked fine, then her mother wouldn't think that she needed any new ones. She searched the attic and her brother's rooms for their old textbooks and searched through them to figure out which ones weren't too ruined to be reused.
The most striking things was for Ginny was when they traveled to Diagon Alley with Harry Potter (oh, Harry Potter) after she had received her Hogwarts letter - right on time. Seeing her mother's concern at having to buy all of Gilderoy Lockhart's new books when they got their lists. Books for her, Fred, George, Percy, and Ron. And there had been nothing for her to do to make it better (sure, Harry gave her the copies he'd been given but that didn't make too grand a difference in her mother's expression). Just one of the stark realizations that she'd had before boarding the train, one that she was certain her older brothers had noticed before she'd even had an inkling of it.
Until she boarded the Hogwarts Express to begin the First Year from hell.
Sure, Ginny was sorted into Gryffindor - much to her delight and obvious expectation. She made friends but it wasn't the same, not until she found that journal amongst her books. He, whoever it was, listened to her the way her brothers didn't. Too busy with their friends and Quidditch and whatever to talk to her past teasing and undermining her. He was so nice, so lovely and he didn't only listen - he asked her questions, he wanted to talk even more about her problems. She wasn't going to turn down someone who was willing to listen when she knew so few people who'd attempt it. Her brothers were either to wrapped up in their own stuff or too far away.
But things changed as a few months passed and she began to feel odd, ill and chilled. She shrugged it off as a cold, just like Tom (his name was Tom) had said that it must be. Except things kept getting weirder, and it wasn't just the loneliness. She had Tom after all, and he was enough. But then she was losing time, and it felt like she was spinning out of control - she couldn't tell her brothers, what if she was going mad? What did they do with mad witches? She didn't want to end up in an Azkaban cell alongside her uncles' murderers. She was waking up covered in feathers and blood. Something was going terribly long and even Tom didn't know what it was.
Her brothers tried to cheer her up, but they didn't have any more tact than they ever had had before. She stumbled upon the realization that there was only one thing that had changed since she had come to Hogwarts, and her brothers didn't appear any more mad than usual so it couldn't be the school. It had to be Tom. So, she got rid of him - if you couldn't trust your journal, who could you trust?
Except she couldn't leave her journal in Harry's grasp, so she took it back. Reclaimed it. She wasn't ready for him to know ... everything. She wouldn't be able to deal with that embarrassment at all.
Ginny didn't remember much after that. Only waking up in what was apparently the Chamber of Secrets and being transported to the Hospital Wing. Of having her family surrounding her and loving her, and wondering whether or not Tom was truly out of her head. If everything really was going to be totally fine. That it wasn't her fault.
---
The summer after her second year was amazing - spending all of that time with her family and being able to take solace in having them surrounding her. Traipsing through the tombs with her brothers and peaking into every nook or cranny. She tried desperately to get into that last tomb because mutant skeletons sounded utterly cool. Mum wouldn't allow it, though - despite her trying to sneak in hidden between Fred and George. They just had to give her away.
Past the dementors, Ginny's second year wasn't too eventful. Though, she did end up spending way too much time inside because of the encroaching dementors. She wouldn't risk that scene again. She would not be reliving those memories, the feeling that she was doing all of this harm and not having a clue what it was.
She did emerge for the Quidditch games. Harry was a superb flyer, after all.
---
The Quidditch World cup going into her Third Year was a complete and utter mess. The terror of the Death Eaters and the realization that they were a shadow of Voldemort, of Tom. She clung to her brothers after that, and was more than relieved to be headed home. As fun was Quidditch and broom-riding was, the World Cup was just a bit ruined for her.
---
Then came Fourth Year with Dumbledore's Army and her father's terrifying injury at the fangs of Nagini. That abrupt and unending feeling that her father could have been gone in a moment if not for Harry raising the alarm. This beside her first taste of the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a seeker, though she was horrendous at that compared to Harry. So, she went back to chaser and her goal scoring ways. Exercising her fabulous bat-bogey hex on Draco Malfoy, and joining Harry at the Department of Mysteries. Her injuries in the battle only phased her when they meant that she couldn't protect her friends.
---
Fifth Year was the year she got Arnold, her oh so darling Pygmy Puff. She'd spent the summer practicing her skills as a chaser and had been more than ready to take to the Pitch for the try-outs. Of course, she got in. And so began her trail through the Quidditch world in full. Not to mention her slow growing actual relationship with Harry.
The end of the year tore her apart though. With the invasion by the Death Eaters and the death of Dumbledore. Accompanied by the horrifying attack on Bill, one of her more tolerable brothers, by Fenrir Greyback. Facing down not only the horrendous attack but also the fact that he might end up living with the consequences of the attack and being infected with a fraction of the werewolf curse.
And the abrupt end of her short relationship with Harry. Stupid, noble Harry.
Obviously it was time to really move on. As much as one could in the middle of a war, anyway.
---
Sixth year was horrendous, just to put it lightly, but then she was on a mission. Mostly ganging up with the remainder of the DA and wreaking havoc. No way were they going to let Snape and the Carrows get away with everything that they had done. Not when there was something that they could do. Like gratifying the walls of the castle and attempting to steal Godric Gryffindor's sword. She was certainly going to live up to her Gryffindor status. At least, before she was forced into hiding in the Room of Requirement with the rest of Dumbledore's Army.
The Battle of Hogwarts comes back to Ginny in bits and pieces, obscured by the combination of adrenaline and terror. Especially once she was allowed out of the Room of Requirement where she had been meant to stay for 'safety.' The utter horror of seeing Fred lying there in the Great Hall, dead. Her beloved, hilarious brother. One part of a half, and one of the family's missing pieces. Knowing, that he wasn't coming back and desperately hoping that it was all just a nightmare.
Harry defeated Voldemort, and they all breathed a sigh of relief. But, all she wanted now was her family. She wanted her family back.
---
Finishing off her schooling was quick compared to the past year of her life, but so many pieces were missing and she was desperately trying to fit them back together again. There wasn't any way to get back what she had lost, though. So, Ginny threw herself back into her family once she was graduated and spending as much time with them as possible. Eventually, she joined up with the Hollyhead Harpies. The wounds are still closing though, and she's not quite certain what she's meant to be doing now that Fred is gone. The wounds are healing, but things seem to be getting better. Maybe.
