GABRIEL tristan WRIGHT
** 31 -- BOUNCER/BARTENDER -- ENGLISH -- SINGLE **
"I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me"
Gabriel Tristan Wright was born to Matilda Finch and Jonathon Wright over the summer in 1973. The couple hadn't yet married but had made tentative plans before Gabriel's birth. Plans which had rapidly fallen apart shortly after his birth when Gabriel's father returned to the Order of the Phoenix for some mission, what Gabriel never uncovered. Matilda and Jonathon had had a bit of a whirlwind romance, not so serious about each other until they had found out rather unexpectedly that little Gabriel was on the way. Jonathon had confessed his status as a wizard to his muggle bride-to-be, something that they had never fully figured out before his death. Matilda struggled after Jonathon's birth, moving back in with her parents and finding a more proper job to support them - never having any contact with Jonathon's family, and never certain if they were alive out there. Matilda had remarried soon enough, and Edmund Jones was a nice enough man who had stuck around. There hadn't been as much as a romance, but Matilda was looking out for her little boy.
Gabriel was a rather rambunctious boy, though he had always stuck tight to his mother. He had a rather odd relationship with his stepfather, rather stilted given that he was proof of the relationship between Matilda and Jonathon - something that she reminded Gabriel of regularly. Wanting him to know as much as he could about his father, even if she didn't know all that much herself. Gabriel's first half-sibling was born when he was seven years old, a lovely little muggle boy his parents had named Jackson. They got along fine, though the age gap was rather annoying to Gabriel who was always up to something - and toting a toddler around wasn't quite his speed. His second half-sibling was a lovely little girl born named Vivian three years later, just before Gabriel was destined to be off to Hogwarts. One night, Gabriel had been using his accidental magic, the little that he could harness, to float his sister's toys in front of her. The little girl had readily giggled in amusement, before flashing the toys in a rapid assortment of colors. At first, Gabriel had thought it had been him, but the suspicion had given him comfort. A little less alien in a house of muggles.
The next year his mother and siblings were waving him off to Hogwarts, all of his things packed and ready. To fulfill what his mother had fondly called his 'legacy,' and to maybe someday find out a little more about his real father. Gabriel was quickly and easily sorted into Hufflepuff, for his 'good and caring nature, alongside his utter loyalty to his family.' Gabriel was the image of a rather perfect student, he never dedicated himself so much to his classes but he always did rather well - never poorly enough to draw attention. Instead, he participated in the school choir and dueling club. The second not so much for the glory but rather to keep his family safe. He knew what happened to his father and, even as a first year, wanted to be able to offer some protection to his family. To make sure that he never had to lose anyone ever again. Even Edmund.
Gabriel managed to keep a relatively low profile throughout his school years, past the Choir performances. He was more interested in rubbing elbows and hanging out down at the lake. Sometimes he took to guiding the younger students, taking them under his wing the first few weeks of each school year until they knew the ropes. The unofficial Hufflepuff club. By the time he graduated he had a relatively well developed circle of friends, even if he had never managed to be a stand out student.
After graduation Gabriel got his first job as a muggle bouncer, being told he was just strapping enough to get the job done - if he stopped looking so baby-faced. Gabriel moved around, from job to job over the recent years. In that time his sister had begun at Hogwarts, having received her letter and confirming his own suspicions. Gabriel had guided her, as much as he could. The little Ravenclaw made him proud, and the bonded closer over their shared experiences at Hogwarts. While she was at Hogwarts, though, life rolled on for him. Just after he graduated Gabriel had been interested in taking a job in the Ministry at first, until the Second Wizarding War had heated up and he began to hear whispers. Then he thought better to not put himself immediately in the line of fire. Still, he did join the Order of the Phoenix himself, looking to learn as much as he could to protect his family. Soon after he began training earnestly, learning all he could from the older members of the Order.
At the end of Vivian's first year, rumors of Voldemort's return were active. Something had happened at the end of the Triwizard Tournament, he might not have known everything but he knew it wasn't good. By the end of Vivian's second year it was confirmed by the minister himself. Gabriel desperately wanted to pull her out of school, to do something, anything, to keep his little sister safe. He had practically pleaded with her the next year after the Death Eaters stormed the school. She should have known better, clever little girl that she was. Dumbledore wasn't there to protect her anymore and who knew what would happen after. She spouted something about them being siblings, if he was safe then so was she. Gabriel wasn't naive enough to think that they wouldn't find out, even if he didn't have the power to force her.
They received the news towards the end of the year. Vivian hadn't been content to sit back and let the Carrows rule the school, so she'd raised a bit of trouble with Dumbledore's Army. Except they'd caught her. Once they knew that she wasn't some half-blood little girl, but a mudblood who had been fooling them all year, no one could stop them. She was dead. Gabriel was more than distraught, when the Battle of Hogwarts came shortly there after he was in the center of it. Utterly vicious, desperately looking to get vengeance for his darling little sister. It might not bring her back, but he wanted them to feel a touch of what she had suffered through. By the end of the Battle he wasn't satisfied, though. Not seeing those with the Carrow name walking free. As if they couldn't have held them back. Done anything to stop the murder of his little sister. As if their family hadn't made them like that.
After the battle everything had shifted. He hadn't known quite what he was meant to do, past simply feeling the overwhelming loss. So he had grieved alongside his family, burying his little sister and distancing himself. He didn't want to deal with their looks, knowing that he surely could have done something to save her. To get her out of that school. Weeks later when news had broke of the release of Rhea, Hestia, and Flora Carrow he wasn't sure how he was meant to feel. These women who surely could have conspired with their family, could have known what they planned and done absolutely nothing to stop it. It had taken him a while to set his mine straight.
So, Gabriel had taken a new job at the same bar as one Hestia Carrow. He wanted to know precisely what they had known, what they had done. He wanted to know whether they had stood by, or if they had somehow egged their family on. And, he resolved himself to do what was necessary if it came down to it. If she or her sister weren't so different from the rest of her family. He would figure it out.
