CELYN marc DELACROIX
** 29 -- MAGIZOOLOGIST: MAGICAL MENAGERIE -- FRENCH -- SINGLE **
"I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me"
Celyn Marc Delacour was born to a pair of diplomats in France, both of them muggles. Having a child had been one of a number of little boxes for them to check as their life together passed. Achieving all of their ambitions, with having their own child as a footnote to finally craft the perfect family. It wasn't that they didn't love him, but with their long hours and always being called away they were never much of a family unless it was at some event in public. As a young boy he was expected to be the perfect son, never a toe out of line or a hair out of place. Celyn had obeyed, always. There had never been a threat of consequences, at least not a spoken one. Stepping out of line just meant the cold shoulder and a tense lecture for the most part, and seeing even less of his parents than he had been already. He was a quiet boy already, so even the unspoken consequences had kept him easily in line. Something that had frightened him terribly when he began to show bits of accidental magic, especially the odd bits in public. He kept quiet as much as he could and did whatever was asked of him, something which meant they could be some sort of family marginally more often - instead of being left alone with a nanny or being sent off to a boarding school.
Celyn received a relatively top tier education given the position of his parents and the wealth that they had, all of the activities that he was thrown into as well. A myriad of things to keep him busy, and to present a well-rounded and intelligent little boy. Receiving his letter to attend Beauxbatons Academy of Magic was a bit of a relief, even if his parents had been more than cautious about it at first. Once one of the Professors had spoken to them, though, it was settled and he would be off to boarding school in September. It was something that he looked forward to, even if getting on the train had been nerve wracking. His parents took the opportunity of having him away at school, traveling more and leaving him at school for most holidays given how difficult it would have been to work their schedules around him being home for only a few weeks until the end of the school year. He spent most of the years studying in the library amongst a few friends, though he had a bit of difficulty making many given how closed off he was. Celyn was perhaps closest with the school's Abraxans, and the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. The animals had always been the easiest to get along with, the ones that were simple to understand without some ulterior motive past food or affection, and had never deserted him.
His third year, for his birthday, Celyn managed to convince his parents that a part kneazle - partly out of guilt and conning them just slightly into getting him one for company. The cat was his constant companion for the rest of his years at Beauxbatons, though he was confined to Celyn's room over the summer holidays for the most part - couldn't have him terrifying anyone traipsing through the house who wasn't in the know, after all. Something that was a bit tricky given the appearances he was anticipated to always make over the summer, the perfect top of his class student. By his third year, though, it wasn't unexpected. His fifth year brought another shift in his dynamic between him and his parents. Their end of year discussions and summations of how well he was doing and what had been going on, so they weren't complete and utter strangers. Celyn had let slip of a boy he had found rather cute, blushing deeply, and his mother had been quick to remind him that he mustn't share that with anyone. That he never knew who might hear him, and how it might impact his parents. Always his parents.
Reaching the end of his Seventh Year without incident had been more than a relief for Celyn, he had already lined up an apprenticeship with a Magizoologist and was more than ready to go off on his own. His parents hadn't been cruel over the last few years, perhaps standoffish at times and a bit repetitive, but enough so that he was more than happy to gather his things and to set off with the Master he would be studying under. He spent the next five or so years travelling the world and learning as much as he could about magical creatures. Being taught how to handle certain situations and precisely how different creatures behaved, so many things that couldn't be garnered solely from his old school textbooks. At the end of his apprenticeship Celyn spent a few years travelling on his own, going to places he had never been to before, and approaching creatures that he would have never thought to get anywhere near close to. Soon enough, though, he was looking for a different experience and ended up taking a contract with the Magical Menagerie as their in-house Magizoologist. Seeing to the needs of any creature from the owls, to their more exciting creatures. It wasn't as exhilarating, but it was something new.
