Amelia was a muggle born girl who was later scouted by the Quidditch heads at a very young age and swept up into the wizarding world. During her adjustment period as a young teen Arthur Weasley served as her contact so she knows the Weasleys pretty well (particularly Arthur, Molly, and Percy). She attended Hogwarts and was a Gryffindor. Playing for the Quidditch team there while also training with the NY Wolves and US National team she proved to be quite the celebrity both within the walls of Hogwarts and out.
During her time there she struggled with magic, still does, but proved to be popular with classmates and most Professors despite her magical shortcomings. She has dated Oliver Wood on and off since she was 15 years old (despite taking his position from him at Hogwarts). While they would fight lately their fights have become more violent and the couple is on again and off again. Wood has taken to drinking and has actually assaulted her before. It's just not good. She also has feelings (though she tries to deny them) for someone else. Amelia is in a dangerous place right now being in a place of celebrity and being muggle born it's putting her right in the line of fire.
