The DA year was supposed to be practice for the Department of Mysteries. Which was supposed to be practice for the year of the Carrows. Which was supposed to be practice for the Battle of Hogwarts "final exam." Which ended with Voldemort dead, which sort of meant it was supposed to be the end, right?
Well, apparently not. The figurehead had fallen, but the beliefs still lived on. In fact, there was even something more sinister about it, because those who had simply been followers had disappeared after the loss of their leader. Those who remained were hardcore.
Neville had spent the day shadowing some higher-ups who were going to be assigned as bodyguards to Amelia Evans. She'd recently become a target due to the fact that she was a high-profile Muggleborn. Most people would have been excited to meet her because she was a famous Quidditch player and, yeah, that was cool, but for Neville there was also the fact that he remembered her from school. Given that he'd finally figured out that he really was a Gryffindor and developed some confidence, he was on a reconnecting-with-old-classmates kick. People he was afraid to befriend before finally seemed interested in hanging out with him!
So, at the end of the work hours, he made his way over to Amelia with a smile and an outstretched hand. "Hey! I'm Neville. You helped me out of a little Sticking Charm trap when I was a third-year."
Amelia Evans
