Alicia Spinnet grew up in a rather average pureblood family, minus all the blood supremacy. Her parents were devout Gryffindors so while she didn't grow up with much, if any, exposure to the dark arts she still had to endure tea parties with the families her parents were close to and all of the proprieties that that had entailed. She had never been a fan of them, much less so as a strong-willed and rambunctious youngster who had been significantly more interested in doing tricks on her broom than sitting around making niceties. She might know how to walk and talk like a proper pureblood princess, but that doesn't mean she's much inclined to it unless she has to. Heading off to Hogwarts she wasn't too much changed. Her scholastic endeavors took a back seat to anything and everything Quidditch. She was constantly pestering the Quidditch captain, and anyone else involved, once she got them cornered. She set her mind to it and she ... persuaded them into helping her out. As a result Alicia made the Gryffindor Quidditch Team in her second year at Hogwarts, even if she was only a reserve player, later elevated to a full fledged member of the team in her third year.
Alicia's focus in school was mostly around Quidditch and just about anything that revolved around it, and how she could do better. Granted, she was always limited by her own strengths (and attention span) but she managed some things in her years at Hogwarts, dabbling in researching spells for brooms and digging into how broomsticks were actually made - something which took a backseat to everything else given that she didn't have any reason to divert her attention from Quidditch. She was devoted to it. She passed her OWLs and NEWTs well enough, though if she'd actually focused on them just a bit more and studied instead of shoving in extra Quidditch practice.
Following her career as a student at Hogwarts, Alicia was signed to the Ballycastle Bats as a reserve chaser, eventually taking over an injured chaser's place on the main roster. A position which she held on and off for the next five years before she took a bludger to the hip, shattering the bones to the point that magic couldn't quite mend everything, the fall from her broom hadn't helped either. Alicia retired quietly, utterly distraught and having her dreams ripped away, and returned home to her parents manor. Eventually, at their prompting alongside that of her friends, she dedicated herself to her physical therapy to regain as much mobility as she could. It would never be same, though, and she still walks with a limp and gets aches.
Shortly after she finagled herself a position as an apprentice broom-maker under a broom-maker who worked in the R&D department of Nimbus Racing Broom Company. It took a lot of getting into being away from the actually game of Quidditch and knowing that she was never going back, not with how much it ached when she mounted a broom. Or how much nervous fear she held, thinking that the same one in a million bludger hit might strike her out of nowhere. Again.
